Cirque Dreams: Holidaze Manchester Theatre reviews
Nothing else like a Joe Satriani show!!!
This was one of the best concert experiences I have ever had, despite the corny notion. With the hundreds if not thousands of concerts I've seen and the dozens of times I've seen Cirque Dreams: Holidaze perform, it sounds absolutely amazing.
Cirque Dreams: Holidaze's technical mastery of the guitar is only surpassed by his soulful and heartfelt melodic sensibilities and expression of pure joy in the moment of spontaneous collaboration and musical exploration.
The unexpected icing on the cake was Mike Keneally on keyboards. Mike Kenneally on keyboards was a real treat, not only did he spread etherial soundscapes but he traded off lead lines with "Satch" practically note for note. What an "ear" Mike has... amazing, simply amazing. One of rock's most under rated and overlooked rhythmatists, Jeff Campitelli is nothing short of an amazing drummer who has the restraint to lock down the pulse, adding just enough spice to build interesting and intriguing beats while patiently waiting for ideal moments to explode in furious solo bursts. Rhythm guitarist Galen Henson was the perfect sideman, showing no ego as he consistantly laid down rock solid rhythmic tapestries. In fact, bassist Allen Whitman held down the groove and was right "in the pocket" but also often pumped up the crowd from the stages edge, playing lead bass and pushing boundaries of the instrument's limitations. Allen is a true virtuoso with amazing energy. Cirque Dreams: Holidaze's backup band was solid as a rock, giving him all the foundation any soloist could ever wish for. Having said that, Cirque Dreams: Holidaze allowed the guys plenty of room to express their own musical styles and personalities.
The brilliance of Cirque Dreams: Holidaze's virtuosity cut through and lead the way to new heights of fretboard surfing, inspiring mental gymnastics from the audience as we all seemed to effortlessly sing along in our heads with Cirque Dreams: Holidaze's soaring melodies. The beginning of the show approached too much to listen to, I wanted to hear it all, take in every note each member of the band was adding to the musica recipe but as I allowed my hunger to subside and I submitted, giving myself to the rhythms, allowing the distinct vibe of each piece to flow through me.
I cannot give this concert any higher praise.
Andrea Bocelli - A night for Love was AMAZING!!!
From the beginning, I found myself with my mouth opened several times just listening to all 3 performers. I cried, I laughed, and it was amazing.
My only complain will be the late comers. The show was scheduled for 7:30 PM and at 9:00 PM there were still people coming in, this was a bit distracting.
Doors should close once the show starts and people coming in late need to wait until intermission or if coming in after intermission then sorry, other than this was FANTASTIC!!!"
Remy was good
The lady at the concession both charged me $65 for one Heineken beer and didn’t give me a receipt. Then I called the stadium, and they said I got 6 beers. OMG, it’s my birthday, why would I be buying the drinks? Furthermore, we got it in the parking lot before the show got started. We all know those drinks cost an arm and a leg. Now I have to fight to get my money back. They need to check their workers because that lady is stealing. I’m so pissed off. 5 years in a row, nothing like this has ever happened to me before.
First half not that great.
I was a big fan of "Under the..." tour as an IU alumni and avid advertiser for you, however, I was disappointed. The best show I saw was at the Fox in St. Louis. Your show rocked, way more perky from start to finish. More interactive with the audience, all of you were. Even the wives were introduced! Nice sharing what you did for jobs before you hit it big, and all of you were more personable. Forget the video as an intro. Caroline from the Voice, I remember, she is good but needs to set up the audience for the main attraction. She did a great job on Jolie. Yes, of course I would see you again. I came special from GA to see you. I remember Jerome from the IU sing as well. Look at the videos from the St. Louis show, go back and it was awesome. The crowd gave you standing ovations from start to finish!!!
